What is available for me to conduct a survey?
How do I get access to Qualtrics? Does the university provide survey software like SurveyMonkey?
Answer
These are the official survey and/or questionnaire tools provided by Mason. There is no need to (and you should not) use any other software such as SurveyMonkey, QuestionPro, etc.
- Dynamic Forms: Supports e-sign and workflows (e.g., multiple sign-offs). It can be more difficult to use and you must request an account from ITS, but it is the only option if you need these capabilities.
- Microsoft Forms: Great option for small quizzes and questionnaires when you will look at the results in Excel or using their build-in visualizations, Some things are just easier: It has an included date-picker, more options for rating icons, a check button to allow respondents to edit their responses, simple quiz tools, and uploaded files will automatically be added to OneDrive. You already have access to this through Office 365.
- Qualtrics: If you are doing academic research and/or your need isn't filled by one of the above, then Qualtrics can do it. Mason has a site license for this, which is managed by ITS, but you must request access through your department or school.
- Library staff should see the intranet for instructions.
- All others should check the list of administrators and email an appropriate person or look for instructions on your school website (e.g., CHSS).
